Flying Nun Records

New Zealand label, founded in 1981. Self-distributed from 1981 to October 1987. Distributed by WEA Records Limited, Oct 1987 to April 1990, then to Festival Records (NZ) Ltd. (for NZ) and Mushroom Records (in Australia). Partially sold to Mushroom Records at the same time, with Mushroom acquiring the balance over the next decade. When Warner Music purchased Festival Mushroom Records in 2005, Flying Nun went as part of the deal. In 2010 Flying Nun was sold to a consortium owned by founder Roger Shepherd and Neil Finn. Owned in 2023 by Shepherd and Ben Howe. For help dating repress/reissues of pre-Web titles: Both info@flyingnun.co.nz & www.flyingnun.co.nz existed by 1996.
