Since its founding by David Byrne in 1989, Luaka Bop has introduced Os Mutantes, Shuggie Otis, Tim Maia and William Onyeabor to the world at large, and become home to artists including Floating Points, Tom Zé, Javelin, Moreno Veloso, Janka Nabay, Delicate Steve and Bright Moments, among others. Lived for a time at Warner Bros, Narada/Virgin/EMI, and V2; independent since 2006.
