US Heavy Metal band formed by singer Ronnie James Dio and drummer Vinny Appice in 1982 following their depature from Black Sabbath. The line-up changed many times with RJD being the only constant member. Active between 1982–1991, and subsequently 1993–2009, until the death of Dio following a diagnosis of stomach cancer in late 2009.
