English punk band formed in 1976 in London by Dave Vanian (vocals), Brian James (guitar), aka Captain Sensible (bass then guitar), and aka Rat Scabies (drums). The group was the first British punk band to release a single ([m=18998] in 1976). They turned to a more psychedelic and gothic sound in the 1980s.
