Death metal band from Tampa, Florida. Formed in 1985 as , then changed spelling to , the band changed their name to Obituary shortly before the release of their first album in 1989. Disbanded in 1997, although a live album surfaced a year later. In 2005 the band reformed, and has continued to tour and release new material.
