Label established by (EMI) subsidiary , launched in the UK on June 15th 1962. Intended as a rival to London American Recordings and Pye International, it specialized in releases licensed from smaller American labels. The rights to the label were directly owned by The Gramophone Co. Ltd., later being reassigned to renamed company . As of 2017 the trademark is directly registered to successor Parlophone Records Ltd. which forms part of the Warner Music Group.
