J Records was a private joint venture between former Arista CEO Clive Davis and BMG Entertainment, and was established after he was recruited by BMG Music (which had previously fired him from Arista Records in 2000). The label was a part of the RCA Music Group, itself a unit of Sony Music Entertainment. On September 26, 2011, the RCA Music Group was disbanded by Sony, and on October 7, J Records, alongside sister labels Jive, Arista and LaFace Records, were all absorbed into RCA Records, bringing all of its artists to the RCA family. Label code: LC 11063
