Amha Records was an Ethiopian record label established by in 1969, the first label in the country to release popular music (before . The label released 103 7" singles and 10 albums between 1969 and 1975. Prominent Ethiopian artists who featured on the label include Mulatu Astatke, Mahmoud Ahmed, and . In 1975 the military junta forced the closure of the label and Amha Eshete lived in exile until 1993. Pressing was contracted to plants in Asia and Europe as there was no pressing plant in Ethiopia. Early releases were made in India, briefly switched to Lebanon, then finally to Greece for the duration of the labels existence.
