Vik Records is the continuation of the RCA Victor subsidiary label "X", which was discontinued on January 1, 1956, and replaced with the Vik label. The last number on "X" was at least 4X-0184, "Turn The Light On" by Eddie Fontaine (Reardon). Many "X" releases were reissued on Vik. On November 1, 1958, Vik was discontinued in most of the world except for Italy, Spain, Lebanon, Argentina and Venezuela, and discontinued in the former two in 1966. It remained active in Lebanon and Venezuela, while in Argentina it morphed into RCA Vik. Both labels continued operations up to their absorption by BMG in 1986. A product of Radio Corporation of America. For bootlegs / counterfeits, see Vik (4)
