American classical guitarist (born 1946 in New York), focusing principally on music for early plucked instruments (vihuela, Renaissance lute, theorbo, Renaissance and baroque guitars, baroque lute). In the 1970s, he co-founded the ensemble Hesperion XX with Jordi Savall.
