Irish folk-rock band active 1970-1974, 2001-2003. Married couple Gay and Terry Woods formed The Woods Band in 1970 after their split with Steeleye Span. They recorded one album, [m=277327], and toured before dissolving when the couple joined Dr. Strangely Strange for a six-week tour in the spring of 1971. The couple later resumed performing as The Woods Band and also as Gay & Terry Woods, with a rotating cast of musicians, and released a final single as The Woods Band in 1974, [m=2136685], before continuing under the name Gay & Terry Woods. The couple divorced in 1980, with Gay forming Auto Da Fé and Terry retiring from the industry for 5 years before joining The Pogues. Terry began recording and touring with Dave Browne in 2001, reviving the name The Woods Band.
