British singer, songwriter, producer and director; born 15 February, 1949, on the White City Estate in Shepherds Bush, London, UK. Brother of Susan Smith (33) and Mike Nicholls (5), father of Morgan Nicholls, Amy Nicholls and Will Nicholls. His father was Bill Nicholls (of Billy Nicholls & The Romaniacs), who was a member of the RAF band The Squadronaires, along with Cliff Townshend (father of The Who's Pete Townshend). Widely known as music director and backing vocalist with The Who and Pete Townshend. Was signed to Immediate Records in the 1960s as a singer/songwriter, and recorded his first album, but was never widely released due to the collapse of the label. Founded his own label, Southwest Records (7), in 1998.
