The Flintstones (9)

The Flintstones were a pop group from Calcutta (Kolkata), India, active in the late 1960s. The band was formed by Clayton Saunders (rhythm guitar, keyboards, vocals) and Rhett May (lead vocals). The original lineup also included Rodney Thompson (lead guitar), Steven Booths (drums), and Eddie Rynjha (bass). Influenced by Western pop and rock acts such as The Beatles, The Monkees, and The Rolling Stones, the group developed a style incorporating elements of psychedelic pop. They became known on the local live music scene, performing regularly at venues such as Trincas in Calcutta, and later operating their own venue called The Madhouse. In 1968, the group recorded their only known single, "Happy By My Side" / "Be Mine", released on His Master's Voice. Both tracks were written and arranged by Clayton Saunders. The band was active until around 1969, when Rhett May emigrated to Australia, followed shortly by Clayton Saunders.
