American band from Los Angeles, formed at UCLA in 1968. In 1969, the group recorded an untitled album, mostly known as the demo album, which was made to get a record label. It has never been officially released after not finding a record label. Halfnelson released their self-titled debut and only album in September 1971 on Bearsville Records which was very unsuccessful. Shortly after the release of the album, the group changed their name to Sparks and their album was then re-released in 1972 under their new name. The new version of the album featured new simpler artwork, displaying the group in more of a classic profile superimposed against a red brick pattern.
