American psychedelic rock group from Southern California. Originally known as Captain Speed, a later version of Turquoise featured keyboard player Bill Payne, who later went on be a founding member of Little Feat. Their single Hello Bill was a big hit locally. Managed by Tri-counties concert promoter Jim Salzer, the band had a lot of potential, but they broke up before just before their big break. Bruce Barlow went on to play with Commander Cody. During 1967-68, they recorded two singles for Jim Salzer’s Arcade label and they also recorded an album that remained unreleased.
