Ethiopian singer and drummer. Born: 1954 in Gojjam, Ethiopia, Africa. Died: April 9, 2024 in Washington, D.C. USA at the age of 70. Muluken Melesse was born in Northern Ethiopia province of Gojjam. His talent was nurtured while living in an orphanage, where he received basic music education. After traveling with his uncle at the age of six, he settled in Addis Ababa. He was just 12 when he began his singing career in 1966. After more than 25 years of his music career, Muluken became a born-again Protestant Christian. After relocating to Washington, D.C. in 1984, he continued singing gospel music and performed at church events internationally until his death.
