Experimental psychedelic rock band from Glasgow, Scotland, UK. Helicon was formed by brothers John-Paul and Gary Hughes in East Kilbride, Glasgow. Their sound blends psychedelia, electronica, guitars and sitars with a spirit of counter-cultural experimentation. Since signing to Fuzz Club in 2017, their music has featured on BBC Radio 6 Music, and they’ve previously collaborated with Tony Doogan (Mogwai / Delgados / Belle & Sebastian / David Byrne), Will Carruthers (Spacemen 3 / The Brian Jonestown Massacre/ Spiritualized / Dead Skeletons), and Mark Gardener (Ride). Their 4th studio album, ARISE, a collaboration with LA-based artist and DJ AL Lover, was released Friday 13th February 2026. Helicon is a rotating collective of musicians: John-Paul Hughes, Gary Hughes, Mark McLure, Graham Gordon, Seb Jonsen, Billy Docherty, Mike Hastings, Anna McCracken and Declan Welsh.
