DEAFKIDS is a Brazilian duo known for their innovative and genre-defying sound. Formed in 2010 in Volta Redonda/Rio de Janeiro and signed with the North-American label Neurot Recordings since 2017, the work of multi-instrumentalists Douglas Leal (vocals, guitar, electronics, samplers, percussives, artwork, etc) and Marian Sarine (drums, percussives, electronics, bass) consistently blends the raw spirit of noise and punk with complex global rhythms and electronic experimentation, creating a vibrant and provocative body of work that challenges musical and aesthetical conventions. DEAFKIDS has remained as one of the most relevant South American underground acts to break into the world in the last decade, having played in 31 countries, with extensive tours in Europe, Brazil, South America and North America, being featured in international media (The Wire, The Guardian, AfroPunk, Folha de S. Paulo, etc.), participating in several renowned festivals - such as Roadburn (NL), Supersonic (UK), Out.Fest (PT), Obscene Extreme (CZ), Avant Art (PL) and Novas Frequências (BR) - sharing the stage with bands such as Neurosis, Eyehategod, Godflesh, Converge, Big Brave, The Body, Melt Banana, Metá Metá and Ratos de Porão, and collaborating with many artists, such as Iggor Cavalera (Cavalera Conspiracy, Petbrick), Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke) and Duma (Nyege Nyege), in addition to being featured on the original soundtrack of the award-winning video game Cyberpunk 2077.
