Ashtar used to be a duo from Basel, Switzerland, formed in 2012 and consisting of Nadine Lehtinen (vocals, bass, guitars, violin, former bassist of shEver) and Marko Lehtinen (drums, guitars, vocals, former drummer of Phased). They create a mix of black metal, sludge and doom, an intuitive, intense hybrid of down-tuned archaic riffing, heavy bass and desperately sick vocals with layered, eerie-saturnine melodies, telling about abyss and beauty, melancholy and chaos. Ashtar's debut album "Ilmasaari" was released in June 2015, followed by "Kaikuja" in May 2020. The new output coming in October 2024 has been put togheter by .
