German radio orchestra affiliated to the public broadcaster . The orchestra, formerly known as (LSO) and (RSO Leipzig), received its name MDR Sinfonieorchester after the German Reunification, when the was merged with the Radio Philharmonie. It is based in Leipzig. Principal conductors: (1992–1996) , and („Hauptdirigenten“, 1996–1999) (1999–2007) (2007–2012) (since 2012)
