British drummer, songwriter and singer, born as John Charles Edward Alder on 29th November 1944 in Colchester, Essex, UK. He later changed his name into Mohammad Abdullah after converting to Islam in 2006, but he kept Twink as his artist name. Began his drumming career in local Colchester blues-mod R&B band Dane Stephens And The Deep Beats, which evolved into The Fairies. Moved to London, became a member of Pretty Things, Tomorrow, and Pink Fairies. In 1970, Twink recorded Think Pink, a milestone in British psychedelia, with the production work of friend Mick Farren, and the active participation of musicians like Paul Rudolph, Steve Peregrin Took (a past member of T. Rex) and others. Twink was part of London's Ladbroke Grove underground and the larger Hawkwind family, and also was the drummer in 1972's short-lived Stars project with Syd Barrett on guitar and Jack Monck on bass.
