Purely Fizzycal is a two member British Soul group consisting of north Londoner who met south Londoner initially in the the mid 1980s at , while Ash was working at Rod Argent's keyboard shop & running UK soul-focussed zine Soul Trade, they quickly began working together. Handling the programming & production, Ash says his inspiration came from a mixture of London pirate radio sounds & the US-based sounds of , , etc. While Trisha's vocals & melodies were influenced by growing up listening to her parents reggae records, plus her brother's taste for the likes of , , , & a little Lovers Rock such as - which, together with Ash's raw drum machine sounds, bears all the hallmarks for this uniquely UK take on soul with singles put out on their own independent label & later
