American jazz keyboardist, specialising in the Hammond B3 organ. Not to be confused with Born 3 July 1942 in Lackawanna, New York, USA. Died 28 September 2021 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. Smith (later self-styled as Dr. Lonnie Smith) is known for his prowess on the Hammond B3 organ. He used to tour extensively and has played alongside many of the world’s jazz and R&B greats including , , , , , , , , , , , , , and and others.
