Lynn Carey

American singer, model, actress and songwriter. Born on October 29, 1946 in Los Angeles, California, as daughter of famous actor Macdonald Carey. Best known as the lead vocalist in the band Mama Lion. Carey began her show business career as an actress and a model while still in her teens. Carey had a sizable co-starring part in the wild comedy Lord Love A Duck and a minor role in How Sweet It Is! ; she also made guest appearances on the TV shows Lassie, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Run For Your Life and The Wild Wild West. Lynn joined the band C. K. Strong in the late 1960's, recording 2 albums before their breakup in 1970. Also in 1970 she sang the powerhouse full-throttle lead vocals on all the songs done by the fictional all-girl rock group the in Russ Meyer's camp cult classic film Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls; she also cowrote 2 songs for the soundtrack. Equally in 1970 Carey was the lead singer for the one album band Ivar Avenue Reunion, in which she met vocalist & bassist Neil Merryweather. As a duo they released one single album in 1971. In 1972 the busty and beautiful blonde was the Penthouse Pet of the Month in the December issue of the men's magazine. Equally in 1972 Carey became the lead singer for the bluesy rock outfit Mama Lion, recording 2 albums which were excellent showcases for her strong and robust, Janis Joplinesque blues belter voice. In 1984 she released the solo album Good Times. Lynn Carey still continues to sing with various jazz ensembles.
