American funk/rock band from Detroit, MI, active in early 70s. At the turn of the 70s, the bassist Jack Burningtree (real name John Fisher) was the leader of The Jack Burningtree Band (they supported Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels). Afterwards he joined forces with Dave Schartman (saxophone, flute), Joey Finazzo (lead vocals, guitar), Gary Christa (keyboards) and Mike Mujadin (drums) in a acid rock commune band called New World Symphony. They supported Pink Floyd and opened for Chicago at The Goose Lake International Music Festival, held in August 1970, at Leoni Township, MI. The label Invictus offered them a deal, and the group were already in the studio when they fired before Schartman and then Christa. Now a trio, they changed their name to Warlock and released an album in 1972 on latest Holland-Dozier-Holland . In the same year Warlock issued also a single with a non-album track.
