Ta 4 Epipeda Tis Yparxis (translation: "The 4 Levels Of Existence") was a Greek psychedelic/hard rock group, that formed in 1974 in Athens, by Thanasis Alatas, Marios Giamalakis, Nikos Dounavis and Christos Politis (died January 2026). Alatas and Politis had previously played together in a band called "Frog’s Eye". In 1975, Dounavis was replaced by Nikos Grapsas. The band originally released only one self-titled album in 1976 on an "Omonoia Sound"-related label called "Venus". They soon disbanded as most members had to attend their 2-year mandatory military service. The album was first reissued in 1995 (Wipe Out! Records) and then in 2002 (Ίκαρος). In 2009, Jay-Z used a sample from the band's "Κάποια μέρα στην Αθήνα" ("Someday in Athens") on his song "Run This Town" (featuring Rihanna & Kanye West). The song won 2 Grammy awards in 2010 (best song & best rap song) and Athanasios Alatas, who was the original composer, awarded as a co-writer. The album was reissued again in 2009 by Anazitisi Records.
