Formed in Tampere in 1987, Prestige is considered one of the pioneers in the old-school Finnish thrash/speed metal scene. Despite their mostly humorous lyrical themes, Prestige took part in shaping the Finnish metal music scene as it's seen today amongst bands such as , and . Before their reunion, Prestige had released three studio albums under between the years 1989-1992. These included [m=384264] (1989), [m=384258] (1990) and [m=753514] (1992) as well as a self-released EP titled [r=900707] (1990). The band's original line-up consisted of bassist/vocalist , drummer as well as two guitarists: and . After their third album in 1992, the band underwent a fairly idle phase. However, shortly after the turn of the century Prestige started doing different gigs together. In 2007, released a compilation album titled [r=2395610] including digitally remastered songs from their three studio albums and other releases. Years went by and the original line-up lasted all the way until 2019 when drummer left the band. A year later in 2020, the band announced a record deal with . It didn't take too long after signing to the new record label when Prestige put out a new single, "Exit", marking 28 years since the band had released any new music. The single introduced their new drummer , formerly known from . A following comeback album, [m=2329588], was released in 2021 - starting a new active chapter in the band's history.
