Arabic: أم كلثوم, born أم كلثوم إبراهيم السيد البلتاجي Egyptian singer, songwriter, and actress, born December 31, 1898 in Tamay ez-Zahayra (but not certain as some sources say May 4, 1904), died February 3, 1975 in Cairo. Umm Kulthum, an internationally famous Egyptian singer, songwriter, and film actress of the 1930s to the 1970s. She is known as Kawkab al-Sharq “Star of the East”, widely regarded as the greatest Arabic female singer in history. The entire catalogue of Umm Kulthum was acquired by Mazzika Group in 2003, and is considered to be the most valuable asset of the Arab culture.
