The Versatiles were formed in 1967 by Byles, Earl and Davis and had their debut with "Just Can't Win" released on [r10847701]. They entered the Jamaican Song Festival in 1968 with "The Time Has Come" but did not win. However the group gained great success in Jamaica and UK, featuring both sides on three records on and where the label was launched with "Children Get Ready" and "Someone To Love." "Lu-Lu Bell," recorded at the end of 1969, was their last song as trio for the time being as Byles had left the group to pursue a solo career as and . As duo, The Versatiles had a few recordings released on label. In 1974 they reunited and recorded i.a. "Cutting Razor" with . In the mid-seventies, the group disbanded forever and Byles continued to pursue his solo career. Not to be confused with and from UK performing in early 70s.
