Rita Lee was a Brazilian rock singer, composer and writer, born in the Vila Mariana district of São Paulo Dec. 31, 1947. She died aged 75 in São Paulo May 8, 2023. She was a co-founder of Brazilian band , together with and , in 1966. The band released five albums 1968 - 1972. In that time, Lee had also released her first two solo works, although these records were produced with fellow members of Os Mutantes. In 1972-73 she played briefly with as , and an LP with the duo was released for the first time in 2008. They also played on the Phono 73 Festival. Between 1974 and 1978 she released four albums with the backing band . From 1979 on she released a string of albums credited to herself or as the duo with her husband . She retired from live shows and studio recordings after the release of the album [m=980739] in 2012.
